Important Information to Know
Contact the airline you will be traveling with for any requirements they have for traveling pets. Some of the following may be required and vary depending on airline, destination, and pet.
- Health Certificate
- Vaccination Records
- Specific Carrier (many airlines have strict requirements for size, shape and/or type)
- Pet Passport
If you are traveling internationally, find out the requirements for traveling with pets to the country you will be visiting. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time in advance to obtain all of the required documents, testing, and vaccination you may need to travel with your pet. Some countries have very specific and lengthy processes (sometimes spanning weeks or months) including and not limited to vaccinations, blood tests, parasite treatments, and documented physical exam. Certain countries require isolation or “quarantine” periods that may last weeks to months. Up-to-date information on the current requirements for entry to specific countries can be accessed by visiting https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel/take-pet-to-foreign-country. Be sure to check regularly as requirements change often without notice.
What You Can Expect From Us at Luv-N-Care Animal Hospital
Our veterinarians are USDA accredited to perform exams for and sign off on International Health Certificates.
A full physical exam will be performed, and your documents reviewed.
Important: After you visit here, the process is NOT complete! The Health Certificate will need to be endorsed by the State Veterinarian at the USDA office in Gainesville Florida. You can mail the certificate (UPS or FED-EX Overnight service is recommended) or take the certificate for review in person. Call the USDA APHIS Veterinary Service offices for details on appointments, mailing instructions, and any applicable fees. The PET OWNER is RESPONSIBLE for all processing, mailing, and handling fees and deadlines. Allow at least 3 – 5 business days for processing via mail. Most health certificates are only valid 10 days following issue including shipping/processing time.
